Sung-Hee Kim: International jewellery designer and journalist

MILAN, April 5, 2009 - Sung-Hee Kim, jewellery designer, journalist and director of studio “STELLA B” in Milan, has more than 15 years experience as a jewellery designer.

In 1998 Sung-Hee received a diploma from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan with the honour of being “First in class”. She has designed for important jewellery companies, including several of South Korea’s top brands including Core Jewelry.

Since 2004 Sung-Hee has designed for Moroccan fine jewellery retailer Azuelos as art director, Italian jewellery manufacturer Imma and some Middle Eastern jewellery companies.

In 2001 she founded her own design studio in Milan, specialising in concept design and research in the jewellery sector.

She also produces hand-made or machine-made prototypes with Italy’s best model makers and collaborates with Italian manufacturers to improve the workflow from idea to production of jewellery.

She has taken part in many international jewellery competitions and was a winner or finalist in several of them:

• Tahitian Pearl Trophy 2008
(Middle East regional 1st prize winner)

• Gold Virtuosi of WGC (twice)

• La dolce vita of SWAROVSKI Italia,

• Diamond Today (De Beers Korea)

• Diamonds Modern Women (De Beers Hong Kong)

• Diamonds International Awards
(De Beers and Motorola).

In the past 15 years, she has also focused on jewellery writing and now edits South Korean jewellery magazine “TREND”. In January 2009 she profiled European jewellery brands in her latest book, “The Jewel”.
